About Blue Sky Building Designs

Blue Sky Building Designs is a small residential building design practice established on the Northern Beaches and now also based on the South Coast. The practice is led by Kinga and supported by her husband, Tony, combining design, technical documentation experience and practical construction knowledge.

We specialise in Class 1 and Class 10 residential projects, including new homes, duplexes, alterations and additions, secondary dwellings, studios, garages, pools, cabanas and outdoor living spaces.

Our work focuses on helping homeowners move through the design and approval process with clarity and confidence. From early ideas through to approval plans, consultant coordination, application submissions and detailed documentation, we aim to create homes that are practical, well considered and suited to their site, lifestyle and approval requirements.

DRAFTSMAN

Meet Kinga

Role: Principal Building Designer and Director of Blue Sky Building Designs.
Education: Master’s degree in Structural Engineering, completed in Poland.
Background: Experience working for an engineering practice in New Zealand, followed by residential design and documentation work in Australia.
Experience: More than 10 years working on residential projects across the Northern Beaches and other NSW regions, including many complex and constrained sites.
Main responsibilities: Design, approval documentation, construction documentation, consultant coordination, application support and communication with clients, councils, certifiers and builders.
Approach: Practical, detailed and focused on bringing design, compliance, consultant advice and buildability together.
Outside work: Muay Thai, CrossFit and creative craft projects.

Meet Tony

Role: Draftsperson and documentation support at Blue Sky Building Designs.
Background: Qualified carpenter with more than 30 years of experience in residential construction.
Experiance: Tony has worked on new homes, renovations, high-end alterations and additions across New Zealand and the Northern Beaches.
Main responsibilities: Site measure and modelling of existing buildings, drafting support, documentation assistance and practical construction input during the design and documentation process
Strengths: Buildability, construction methods, practical detailing and understanding how drawings are interpreted on site.
Outside work: surfing and spending time at the beach.

Our Approach
We approach every project as a puzzle that needs to be carefully put together. The client’s brief, site conditions, council requirements, consultant advice, construction details and budget all need to be considered from the beginning.

Good design is not only about how a home looks. It is also about how it works, how it responds to the site & lifestyle, how it can be approved and how it can be built. This is why we take the time to understand the project properly before moving too far into the design.

Our aim is to guide clients through the process with clear advice, practical decisions and well-prepared documentation, so each project can move forward with more confidence.
